Touching in small ways

This Teachers’ Day, I found myself inspired by the bloomback sitting quietly on my desk. Its quiet beauty nudged me to extend my creative energy beyond the work I usually do with OSS — into something hands-on, something personal.
So I picked up some simple materials and began making small flower arrangements as gifts for my children’s teachers. Nothing extravagant, just humble gestures filled with love and intention.

holding growth together

This year has been especially meaningful. I’ve witnessed teachers pour their hearts into my graduating kids — offering patient love, tough love, and everything in between to shape them academically.
At home, I leaned into what I do best: grounding my children and guiding them through their growing-up journey of wellbeing.
In many ways, it felt like co-creating their growth. Each of us held our part — teachers, parents, and the children themselves. Together, it became something bigger than what any of us could do alone.
And here’s the surprise: when I focused on my strengths and trusted others to carry theirs, visceral laughter found its way back to me. I learnt that I don’t need to be everything. Life flows when we honour co-support and welcome its unfolding.

From Science to Flowers

Back in school, I was the Science “whiz,” but only average in Art. So when I sat down to arrange flowers, I didn’t expect much.
Yet with just gratitude, love, and a spark of an idea, I watched simple stems transform into arrangements that somehow carried both heartache and joy. The results felt almost magical.
It reminded me that creativity doesn’t demand perfection — it asks only for presence, intention, and openness.

A Pause. A Gift.

These flower arrangements may be small tokens, but I hope they invite teachers to pause, reconnect with their hearts, and embrace a little self-care.

To every teacher out there: you shape lives and futures in ways words can’t measure. Keep faith. Take your well-deserved September break.

A gentle note

This is simply an amateur-level personal project, shared for inspiration. It is not meant to replace professional floral expertise.
While we can DIY many things, there are many moments where it’s best to call on the experts. Honouring their craft sustains a beautiful ecosystem that benefits us all — and ultimately circles back to nourish our own lives.

It’s a vision of a space where we are heard and we feel safe & at ease. Each individual matters - self-exploration, self-discovery and self-expression. As we connect within our hearts and bodies, we become clear of our purposes and more fully at peace and joyful. Each is different and yet feels sameness with the other. We belong as One. & We connect. Together. As a community. Hence, Our Sacred Sanctuary is born.
