To the Dear Passers-By and OSS Fans,
As a child, I enjoyed experimenting with shampoos, conditioners and soaps. I remembered how I poured, combined and mixed tubs and bottles of the contents into little bottles to see what would happen. Every colour, texture and smell gave a sensory exhilaration.
I often imagined and believed completely in the pictures of the fruits and food I recognized on the labels. I thought if the bath gel has a picture of a lemon, a real lemon is used. If the shampoo contains milk and honey, the manufacturer poured milk and scooped honey into the shampoo to make it. You get the point, whatever they put on those labels, I believe they only contain the goodness of those pictures. And being an innocent child, every bath was a delight as I got to bask in fragrances that smelt exactly like the real thing.
Little as I grew up, I learnt to read the ingredients and was surprised that they contain things I did not understand, let alone what it could do to our bodies. My parents also told me not to use so much as these are not natural. They also shared that “What you see in those advertisements are not what you get. Just gimmicks, so stop being so gullible.” They were very well-meant intention of course.
Hearing that as a child gave 2 reactions:
- I was saddened. Questions cross my mind: Is the world lying? What’s so difficult to give what they promise in those advertisements and designed in those labels?
- I refused to believe what they said and continued to do what I did, exploring, experimenting and buying many types off the shelves. If it was shown on advertisement, it would be part of my collection within the next few days. I had the thoughts “I’m still young. Even if these are not natural, what harm would it cause to me?”
In the process, I had my fair share of skin issues ranging from acne, “chicken skin”, blemishes, eczema, fungal infection. My search for authentic, pure, simple, less processed & effective products was long and it appeared idealistic and impossible.
Walking down the road of alternative wellness was then a huge blessing. The desire to give the best to my first child, starting from birth turned out to be a wonderful choice. I figured the best & easiest way was to be the role model and decided to commit to changing my lifestyle. I frequented organic shops and at this time, technology was advanced and it was possible to order from overseas as well. Then, to help my daughter strengthen her immunity, I was recommended Young Living essential oils.
You could imagine how delighted I was as now I could breathe in beautiful scents that have therapeutic effect as well. It was a delightful playground for me. My innate curiosity and love for exploring and experimenting was rekindled. I read up, attended classes and participated in workshops to learn to DIY scrubs, balms and soaps. It gave me so much satisfaction as I could now design and control what ingredients go into what I use eventually, whether it was shampoo, soaps, scrubs or balms. It also mean my dream of creating products that speak exactly what it is made of and what it can do, without any artificial ingredients and side effects, could now come true!
Hence, the fun discoveries and explorations began. It has been 12 years since I started this journey. And I am happy to witness how my body changed. Issues of then remains issues of the past. And I could enjoy wonderful nourished skin every day, a healthier, lighter body and having the opportunities to send love to it and into all the things I do.
The taking off of these products in this website was under the nudge of my mentor coach and friends. It started off with making and giving some to my friends as gifts. And they raved about its effects and scents. Now, I decide to share with more people, in the hope more could receive the goodness of what my loved ones and I have experienced.
